Recruiting Update: Asiata and Hartung

Two names that followers of Cougar recruiting should be familiar with are Matt Asiata and Nate Hartung. Total Blue Sports recently checked in with both young men to see how the recruiting season shaped up.

Matt Asiata is the running back recruit out of Hunter High School in Salt Lake City, Utah. He told TBS that he verbally committed to BYU and is still planning on playing for BYU in the fall.

"I've passed the ACT requirement," Asiata said. "Now I'm just waiting to hear back from the admissions department to find out if I'm in. I should hear back from them by the end of the week. I'd say I have a 50/50 chance of getting in. Right now it's an issue of grades. "

In the meantime Matt says the BYU coaches are maintaining contact with him and supporting him along the way.

"I went to the Blue and White game," Asiata said. "It was good, and I enjoyed it. It makes me look forward to playing. I also had a good chat with my long time friend Ray Feinga. He loves it at BYU."

This offseason Matt says he has been staying in shape by working out with another future Cougar Kyle Leukenga.

Nate Hartung the huge 390-pound offensive lineman recruit from Pennsylvania told TBS that he is not playing college football this year because nobody ever called him back.

"I had some scholarship offers from a few different schools." Hartung said. "But I never heard anything back from any of them. I'm just going to leave on my mission and see what happens from there."
