Doman to Take the Field this Weekend

Attention all BYU fans in Oregon! Future BYU linebacker Shawn Doman will be playing in the Les Schwab Bowl in Portland this weekend. Support Doman in his last high school football game before heading to Provo to play for the Cougars.

Nearly five months ago, BYU received a signed letter of intent from a two-way starter for Canby High School in Canby, Oregon. This weekend, Shawn Doman will play his last football game as a Canby Cougar. The next time Doman takes the field it will be as a BYU Cougar.

Doman will be playing in the Les Schwab Bowl in Portland. The Les Schwab Bowl, formerly the Shrine Bowl, pits an all-star senior lineup from Northern Oregon against their counterparts from Southern Oregon.

Although he excelled as a running back and a safety during his senior season and will play safety in Saturday's game, Doman was recruited to BYU as an outside linebacker. At 6'2" and 200 pounds with a 4.53 forty, Doman brings the speed BYU coaches are looking for at the outside linebacker position, however he will look to add some muscle mass before he sees the field in LaVell Edwards Stadium.

Shawn Doman joins a long line of Doman's to play at BYU. After returning from his mission, Shawn will line up opposite his cousin, quarterback Sam Doman, who will be coached by another cousin, Brandon Doman.

Any fans interested in seeing Shawn Doman play in the Les Schwab Bowl, will need to be at PGE Park in Portland on Saturday June 25th, 2005. The game kicks off at 7:00 p.m. PDT.
