BYU Gets Commit from Summerville Transfer

Today was a fruitful day for the Cougars on the recruiting front. By the end of the day, three high school athletes had given BYU coaches verbal commitments to play for the Cougars next year. One of those recruits was speedy South Carolina transplant Rhen Brown.

Total Blue Sports spoke with Robert Brown, father of BYU recruit Rhen Brown this evening and confirmed that Rhen intends to play for the Cougars of BYU in the fall of 2006. "I couldn't be happier as a dad," said Robert Brown. "I feel so blessed that BYU wants both of my sons to play for there. It's a dream come true."

Brown's recruiting stock exploded over the last 10 days as a result of a stellar performance at BYU's summer camps. He has been turning heads all week with his speed drill times and his outstanding showing during wide receiver and defensive back drills. Brown ran a 4.49 forty-yard dash for BYU coaches at the Cougar camp.

The 5'11", 170 pound athlete just moved with his family to Utah from South Carolina where Brown starred at regional power Summerville High School. Brown will play his senior season at Lone Peak High School in Alpine, Utah.

Cougar fans will be familiar with Rhen's brother Terence Brown, who plays offensive line for BYU.

Total Blue Sports will have more information including comments from Rhen later tonight.
