After securing verbal commits from quarterback James Lark and wide receiver/cornerback Rhen Brown, BYU coaches completed a recruiting trifecta today when they received a verbal commitment from Bountiful linebacker Nate Moncur.
Total Blue Sports has confirmed that Nate Moncur
has verbally committed to play football for the BYU
Cougars. "I'm way excited," said Moncur of playing for BYU. "I like how they do things. I have total faith in the coaches."
Moncur will play his senior season at Bountiful High School in Bountiful, Utah before suiting up for the Cougars in the 2006 season. As a junior, Moncur played quarterback, running back and safety before suffering a knee injury midway through the season.
Moncur will play outside linebacker for the Cougars. He is 6-feet tall, weighs 195 pounds and runs the forty in the 4.5-second range. Moncur also has a 34-inch vertical and did the shuttle drill in 4.0 seconds.
Moncur was recruited by Utah, Utah State, Oregon, UCLA and Illinois among other schools.
