Overton Not Yet Overwhelmed by Offers

Rob Overton from Hayward, California is a 6'6", 220-pound tight end with a 4.69 forty and a 31-inch vertical leap. He has been hearing from a lot of big name schools, but only recently received his first Division I offer. BYU is among the schools showing interest in this talented athlete.

"Right now Ole Miss is the only school to offer me," said Rob Overton, "but I'm hearing from Oregon, Cal, BYU, USC, Vanderbilt, and Utah.

"This summer I went to a Nike camp at Stanford, and went to the football camps at Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, and Cal," Overton said. "I had never been down to the south and I wanted to see how life was like down there. I really enjoyed it too."

Overton said the one school that he would really like to get an offer from is Oregon, because it is close to home and has good facilities.

Coach Doman has been the primary contact at BYU for Overton, who is not LDS. Overton said that religion will not be a factor when considering BYU but when asked if he had plans to visit Provo, he answered with an unenthusiastic "maybe."

Overton was named all-state as an underclassmen and all-league as a junior. He is fully qualified and claims no favorites among the schools that have recruited him.
