"I just decided that's where I wanted to go while I was there that week," Faifili said. "I also talked it over with my parents."
When TotalBlueSports.com interviewed Joey a week earlier he said BYU was in his top three. So why did BYU not show up among his hats?
"I don't know why they didn't put one out there," Joey said. "I told the people at the game that I wanted a BYU hat out there but they didn't put it out."
BYU may have backed off Faifili. The big defensive tackle said he has not heard from any BYU coaches in a while.
"I'm still hoping they [BYU] call," Joey said. "I'd still like to take a trip down there."
Faifili said there is still a chance he could change his mind between now and LOI day. He said he has not talked to any of the Utah coaches to inform them about his commitment. Faifili also reaffirmed that he is fine academically.
According to Faifili, the most impressive football player down in San Antonio this week was big time D-lineman Gerald McCoy.
