Early Offer for AZ Big Man

Mountain View high school in Mesa, Arizona is home to two current BYU basketball recruits in Harper Kamp and Stephen Rogers. TBS caught up with Harper to see what his recruitment is like and how BYU figures into the picture.

"Yeah, BYU has offered me," Harper Kamp said. "I think they saw me this summer when they were looking at one of my teammates Stephen Rogers."

Kamp who is not Mormon, said that he has received offers from Cal, New Mexico, UNLV, ASU, Stanford, Oregon St., Iowa, Washington St., and BYU.

"Right now the schools that are showing me the most interest are Cal, New Mexico, and Stanford," Kamp said.

Kamp is a junior and is just returning from a stress fracture is his foot. Kamp's teammate Stephen Rogers is 6-foot-8 and 175 pounds, but Kamp said he does not know what colleges are recruiting Rogers or what his options are.

Kamp is 6-foot-8 and 250 pounds, and is prepared to take a long look at all the schools recruiting him.

"I'm looking at academics," Kamp said, "but the most important thing to me is the relationship I have with the coaches. I'm going to look at all the schools and see what fits me best."

Right now Kamp is leaning towards the Pac-10. He said his strengths are his play with his back to the basket, his footwork and his 15-foot jump shot.
