Utah High School Football Combine Held Today

More than 300 athletes from the Intermountain West and beyond will descend on Provo, Utah today for the Utah High School Football Combine. Participants will perform various athletic tests with the hope that their performance will draw interest from college coaches.

Alex Jacobson, head football coach at Jordan High School, is the organizer of the Utah High School Football Combine (UHFC). Coach Jacobson took the UHFC from a low profile combine to an event that draws attention from colleges around the country. When the first UHFC was held eight years ago, barely 50 athletes attended; more than six times that number are expected to make the trip to Provo this afternoon.

In the past, Utah athletes had to travel to out-of-state locations like California or Texas to perform at a combine, and as a result, Utah prospects received limited national recruiting exposure. The UHFC is close to home, so it enables more in-state prospects to prove their abilities to college coaches.

Athletes at the combine can test in the follow areas:
- 185-pound bench press
- 40-yard dash
- Shuttle
- Vertical jump
- Standing long jump
- Wingspan
- Standing reach
- 1-on-1s (WRs v. DBs)
- Punting/Kicking

TotalBlueSports.com will be out in force at the combine so be sure to check back tonight and throughout the week for reports on the event as well as text, audio and video interviews with the participants, including many BYU prospects.
