Rough Start for Munns

Things did not go as planned for BYU quarterback commit Jason Munns in his season opener. The four-star recruit from Southridge High School in Kennewick, Washington wanted to start his senior season by punishing opposing defenses like he did as a junior, however he ended up being the one on the receiving end of a few punishing blows Saturday night.

"I was scrambling out of the pocket and then got tackled," Jason Munn said. "When I got up from the pile my hip was really sore, but I ran back to the huddle and called another play. I then got tackled hard on the next play and that's when things started tightening up."

Munns said that he suffered a hip flexor, and that it affected the way he was able to throw the ball. The trainers tried putting some padding around the injury but Munns was unable to return to the game.

"I'm really sore today," Munns said, "but that's football. I'll play on Friday for sure."

Munns said after his game he went back to the hotel to catch the rest of the BYU-Arizona game on TV.

"That was too bad," said Munns about the Cougar loss. "That would have been a big win for BYU. I liked the way the defense was able to stop Arizona, and I liked the way the offense moved the ball."

When asked if he was still fully committed to BYU, Munns said, "I'm good to go."

Jason said he still hopes to be able to come down to Provo to catch a game in person. Munns is still unsure about whether he will serve a mission. He is taking a wait and see approach to the decision.
