Cougar Snapshots: BYU vs. EWU

The Cougars won their ninth consecutive home game during last Saturday's 42-7 victory over Eastern Washington. Our very own Troy Verde braved the snow and cold to bring BYU fans the snapshot story in this latest edition of Cougar Snapshots.

Corby Hodgkiss

Hodgkiss picked off EWU quarterback Matt Nichols during the game's opening drive and ran it back 39 yards for the touchdown. This was the second pick of his career.

Max Hall

Kyle Buchanan

With turf in his face, Buchanan holds onto the ball, though the refs ruled that it was an incompletion, not an interception. BYU's defense, however, had three interceptions on the day, marking the most since BYU intercepted UNLV four times last season.

Harvey Unga

Unga breaks through the line of scrimmage for what would be a 145-yard rushing performance. Unga became the first running back in BYU history to produce four 100-yard rushing games in a freshman season.

Kelly Poppinga

Poppinga runs down EWU running back Dale Morris. For the last nine home games, BYU has given up just 10.2 points per contest.

Harvey Unga

Unga was credited with 21 carries for 145 yards and one touchdown. For the second week in a row, Unga had over 200 all-purpose yards (202). Here, Unga breaks through the line of scrimmage towards the end zone.

Jan Jorgensen

Jorgensen racks up his fourth sack of the season. He currently leads the Cougar defense in sacks. The Cougar defense currently has eight sacks on the year.

Manase Tonga

Tonga does his best impression of the Heisman Trophy pose as he eludes a EWU defender.

Max Hall

The greatest snow on earth begins to fall as Max Hall begins the count. The Cougars went up 21-7 at halftime, marking the sixth time in seven games this year that the Cougars had the lead at intermission.

Bryan Kehl

Bryan Kehl intercepts a pass and returns it for 27 yards. This marked the third time in three games that Kehl has intercepted an opposing quarterback's pass.

Bryan Kehl

Fui Vakapuna

Vakapuna returned to action after missing three games due to injuries. Here, Vakapuna is seen scoring a touchdown in the fourth quarter on a six-yard run under snowy conditions.

Garrett Reden started in place of the suspended Ray Feinga. It was Reden's second career start. He went down after suffering a dislocated ankle, and underwent surgery Monday morning to stabilize the ankle joint.

Chris Bolden

Outside linebacker Chris Bolden sacks Eagle quarterback Matt Nichols with just under seven minutes remaining in the first half. It was Bolden's first career sack as a Cougar defender.
