Cougar Snapshots: Jake Murphy

American Fork High School star Jake Murphy has followed up his junior with an impressive senior season so far. TBS high school photographer Rick Marbury was on hand to capture Murphy in action during the American Fork vs. Pleasant Grove football game.

Jumping Jake Murphy

In hot pursuit, Murphy jumps over the opponent after being tackled by a teammate. At 6 feet 5 inches and 220 pounds, Murphy is an imposing force on defense.

A standout player and leader on his team, Murphy takes charge in the defensive huddle.

Murphy In The Route

As a two-way player, Murphy has also enjoyed much offensive success. He is following up a junior season in which he recorded 30 receptions, 530 yards and eight touchdowns.

Murphy On The Run

Murphy, on the left, weaves in and out of defenders towards the end zone. The Cavemen defeated the Vikings 34-14.

Murphy On The Field

During the game, Murphy was able to intercept a pass at midfield that eventually led to AF quarterback Taylor James' touchdown pass.

Murphy Gets Set

Murphy gets set as a wide receiver. The Cavemen racked up 410 yards of offense during the game.

Murphy Closes In

Last year Murphy played the safety spot, but he now plays outside linebacker, among other positions when called upon.

Murphy Goes Deep

Murphy splits the defense and goes downfield. Against California high school powerhouse Mater Dei, Murphy racked up a gaudy 189-yards receiving and five touchdowns. His touchdowns were 77, 23, 15, 34 and 27 yards.

All In A Days Work

Murphy helped lead his team to a share of the Region 4 crown. The Cavemen look to advance into the state playoffs with a favorable first place seeding in region.
