He's the brother of BYU's C.J. Ah You and led Lone Peak to the 4-A State finals. The recruiting trail has already taken him across the Pacific Ocean and he's got more visits coming up this month. But where will he end up next Fall?
Lone Peak was a heartbeat away from winning the Utah 4-A championship this year, and senior fullback and linebacker Matt Ah You was one of the main reasons why the Knights were able to upset top-ranked Timpview in the semi-finals and nearly top Bountiful for the state title.
While BYU has been showing limited interest, Matt has already tripped to Hawaii and the Rainbows have offered him a scholarship to play middle linebacker.
"I visited Hawaii with my cousin Quinn (a lineman at Kahuku High School)," Matt said. "We had a great time. I would love playing there, but it would be kind of hard because C.J. is at BYU."
He will visit Utah on the weekend of January 17 (his cousin Quinn will also be visiting the Utes that same weekend) and then he'll stop in Provo on the following weekend.
"The BYU coaches haven't offered or told me much about what their plans are for me. I think I'll find out more when I'm on my visit."
Matt is also hearing from UNLV and ASU, but neither school has offered a visit yet. He also wrestles at 215 pounds for the Knights and is juggling his visits around his wrestling schedule.
He says that C.J. will miss Spring football this year but that he is recovering well, working out hard and that he will ready when Fall camp starts in August.
