Tushaus' list of offers includes San Diego State, Air Force, New Mexico State and Nevada. The most recent offer, however, came from BYU following its recent Junior Day.
"I really liked BYU's Junior Day," said Tushaus. "It was my first time there and it was a great campus. I also met with Jake Heaps and some of the other top recruits and I was really impressed with the talent that was there. I also talked a lot with Ross Apo and Zac Stout and I really like those guys. I'd definitely like playing with them in college."
Tushaus is not LDS, but states that BYU would be a good fit for him since he's already familiar with schools with strict standards.
"I go to a private Catholic school, so I'm already used to that sort of thing," said Tushaus regarding BYU's strict honor code. "It's a good thing to have, I think. It helps keep you focused."
Tushaus has already made the rounds on unofficial visits and football camps to schools such as Arizona, Arizona State, Northwestern and Cal, and will likely finish up his summer schedule with trips to USC, UCLA and Washington.
"I'm going to USC after I get back from my trips to Notre Dame and Northwestern," related Tushaus. "I really like USC, so an offer from them would be great. I don't know if I'll make it to UCLA, but I'm definitely going to USC and Washington."
Tushaus is most likely ticketed to play center in college, as he's been playing center for his entire prep career. He claims a 5.0 forty, a 335 bench press and a 485 squat.
Tushaus has no timetable for when he'll commit, but stated that he'd like to decide before the end of the summer before the football season starts. What is most important is that Tushaus finds the school that offers him the most.
"If I feel I need to wait, then I'll wait," explained Tushaus about his decision process. "I want to go to a school that can help me most develop as a football player. I want to play for a top program no matter where they are and I want a school with good academics. Those are the most important things for me and hopefully I find that school here soon."
