Fall Practice Report 8/24

When given the nature of football, injuries are bound to happen. Every year head coach Bronco Mendenhall attempts to limit the amount of injuries, but at the end of the day there's little one can do to prevent them. Monday's practice session saw two of the team's biggest contributors go down during drills.

Monday's practice session was marred by injuries sustained by running back Harvey Unga and safety Scott Johnson. Unga pulled up a bit lame after getting some work in live drills, while Johnson suffered an apparent concussion after colliding with Manase Tonga on a running play.

Coach Mendenhall touched on both injuries and other issues following Monday's practice.

Practice Notes

-Max Hall finished Monday's practice session going 7-of-8 for 82 yards and a touchdown. Hall's touchdown was thrown to Spencer Hafoka from eight yards out. During the set Hall completed passes to McKay Jacobson and a long pass to Andrew George to get the team within scoring distance.

-Sacks were recorded by Brett Denney, Jan Jorgensen, Grant Nelson and Tevita Hola.

-Mitch Payne had a good day, hitting on all three of his field goal attempts.

-The team worked extensively on kick returns, with Riley Stephenson alternating reps with Payne. McKay Jacobson and O'neill Chambers handled most of the returns.
