Fall Practice Report 8/25

The team will finish up fall camp Wednesday with a scrimmage at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The final scrimmage of fall camp usually all but puts together the two-deep roster for coaches, and such will be the case Wednesday. Subsequently, many of the players that have sat out with nagging injuries will be participating in the scrimmage.

Following Tuesday's practice head coach Bronco Mendenhall spoke to the media regarding the plans for Wednesday's scrimmage, among other things.

Practice Notes

-The team did a lot of live work with some overtime reps mixed in. The offense failed to score, but Mitch Payne connected on two field goals from 22 and 36 yards. Payne missed on a field goal attempt of 45 yards. Hall finished the day going 12-of-18 for 99 yards, while Riley Nelson went 3-of-6 for 26 yards.

-The team practiced punting and punt returns, with Matt Putnam, Romney Fuga and Brett Denney standing in as the wall in front of punter Riley Stephenson.

-Defensive highlights included sacks recorded by Denney, Jameson Frazier and Shawn Doman. Jordan Pendleton ended the practice session with a blocked field goal.

-Garett Nicholson again got reps with the first-team defense and had a nice knock-down of a pass intended for Luke Ashworth.
