Cal State Fullerton has already started off on the wrong foot -- or perhaps that's wrong shoulder and wrong knee -- as Cal transfers Omondi Amoke and D.J. Seeley will likely not be playing. The duo injured themselves literally minutes a part during the second half in the annual Blue and Orange scrimmage two weeks ago.
Senior Amoke was expected to start at the five, while junior Seeley was going to be starting on the wing. Both are considered to be the top two players on this year's squad.
The Titans are also expected to be without transfer John Underwood who is seeking a hardship appeal to become eligible for the 2011-12 season after transferring from the University of Missouri due to a family emergency
Without the services of the three transfers, the Titans starting lineup will likely be quite small. Against UCLA in a closed scrimmage, Fullerton started 6-3 Kwame Vaughn, 6-1 Isiah Umipig, 6-1 Perry Webster, 6-7 Orane Chin and 6-6 Sedric Martin. Look for 6-2 Orlando Brown and 6-6 Andre Hardy to be the first off the bench.
Cal State LA will be playing their second exhibition contest of the new season. The Golden Eagles lost to No. 5 Syracuse Tuesday night. While the score looks like a blowout, it was anything but during the first half as Cal State LA was within three points after 19 minutes. They were outscored by the Orangemen 50-27 in the second half.
Leading scores for Cal State LA were 6-4 guard Quinton Watkins and 6-9, 277 lb center Carl Hoffman with 15 and 11 points, respectively. Hoffman also pulled down 8 boards.
