GAME NOTES: The UC Davis Aggies look to end a three-game losing skid as they host the Cal State Fullerton Titans in a Big West Conference showdown at The Pavilion.

Cal State Fullerton is looking to bounce back from a loss as well. The Titans dropped a 72-54 decision to UC Irvine Thursday, and have lost three of their last four games in general. At 1-1 in the Big West, the Titans are a game and a half behind Irvine and Cal Poly for the lead.

The last three games the Aggies have lost were all in Big West play. UC Davis takes an 0-3 record into this matchup with Fullerton looking to spark a change in its season. The Aggies lost an 81-69 contest to UC Riverside Thursday night.

Cal State Fullerton leads the all-time series between the programs, 11-9. The teams will clash again later this regular season on Feb. 13 in Fullerton.

UC Irvine shot 50 percent from the floor against Fullerton Thursday, leading to a 72-54 route of the Titans. Fullerton only managed to shoot 36 percent in the loss. Michael Williams led the way for Fullerton with 18 points and a team-best six rebounds in 31 minutes of action. Alex Harris contributed 12 points in the Titans' loss. Fullerton shot an abysmal 3-of-20 (15 percent) from 3-point distance in the contest.

Williams paces the Titans this season in scoring, averaging 15.8 ppg on 43.8 percent shooting from the field. He's second on the team in assists, one behind Sheldon Blackwell for the lead at 37. Harris is second in scoring for Fullerton with 12.1 ppg, but shooting a considerably worse 35 percent from the floor. Steve McClellan tops the Titans in rebounding with 5.6 rpg.

UC Davis built a 41-27 halftime lead over UC Riverside before the wheels came off in the second half. Riverside rallied to down the Aggies, 81-69, mostly behind a 16-0 run midway through the frame. Corey Hawkins netted 18 points to pace the Aggies, dishing out a team-high five assists in the loss. Georgi Funtarov scored a career-best 14 points, while Avery Johnson chipped in 12. UC Davis shot 42 percent from the floor in the contest.

Hawkins tops the Aggies' scoring charts this season with an impressive 17.8 ppg on 43.5 percent shooting from the field. He's also first in steals with 28, and total assists on the year with 47 helpers. Ryan Sypkens nets an average of 11.8 ppg for the Aggies, and is a perfect 10-of-10 from the free- throw line. The problem for UC Davis is its defense, giving up 79.9 ppg to the opposition this season.

Neither team is a glaring success this season, but Cal State Fullerton will at least be playing for a much closer spot toward the Big West summit. Although the Aggies are home, their defense is too spotty to contain the Titans.
