Scouting Report: Arizona State

Cal State Fullerton battles Arizona State at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe Arizona. The Titans are coming off a 17 point loss to Northern Arizona and hope to be competitive against the Sun Devils

The good news is, at an elevation of 1000 feet, the Titans will not have to contend with altitude as they did in Flagstaff against Northern Arizona but the bad news is the Titans will face a Pac-10 team many people believe will finish near the top of the conference.

Led by 6-8, 250 lb. power forward and pre-season All-American Ike Diogu, Arizona State does not expect much of a battle from Cal State Fullerton on their home floor. The Titans are coming off a 17 point defeat to Northern Arizona while ASU easily handled Ark.-Little Rock in their season opener.

Looking at the roster and boxscores, ASU is not a big team not are they are not that deep. The Sun Devils start three guards along with two 6-8 post players.

unlike last year, Arizona State has a perimeter game with sharpshooter transfer guard Steve Moore (6-4, Dominguez HS, Santa Ana CC), who lit up Ark.-Little Rock -- 26 points in 28 minutes -- in the Sun Devils opening game.

Like NAU, the Sun Devils' strategy will be to stop the Titans loan threat in Pape Sow. Pape will be facing a much better and stronger front court but he won't have to battle the altitude as he was severely winded in the second half against NAU.

The Sun Devils start two freshman in 6-8 center Keith Wooden and 6-2 guard Tron Smith. Role players but appear to be athletic and effective. The Sun Devils will go 7 or 8 players deep in close games.
