Former Titan Drew Awad Succumbs to Cancer

After overcoming the blood and bone marrow cancer the first time, Awad joined the 2004 Titans as a walk-on and became their symbol of toughness, heart and inspiration. This year, the team dedicated their season to him.

Fresno, Calif. - Former Titan guard Drew Awad passed away Monday at his home in Fresno after several long battles with leukemia.

Funeral services are pending.

Awad played at Clovis West High School and later Canada College and Fresno City College around a fight with acute lymphocytic leukemia. He was in remission and transferred to Cal State Fullerton for the 2004-05 season.

He played in 3 games last Fall and scored 5 points before the cancer returned and he was forced to drop out of school to resume treatments.
