GAME NOTES: The Titans are off to a 2-1 start in league play, winning back-to-back games after dropping the opener to UC Davis on the road on January 2nd by a score of 67-63. On Saturday, the team took care of UC Riverside with a 69-56 triumph, the second straight win for the team by double figures.

As for the Mustangs, they too are 2-1 in conference thanks to a pair of wins in the last three outings for the program. On Sunday, the team posted a narrow 72-69 win against UC Davis at home, a much closer game than the 95-81 victory over UC Irvine six days earlier in the league opener.

With respect to the all-time series between these two schools on the hardwood, Cal Poly SLO leads by a count of 29-21, with the Mustangs capturing a 75-72 win in the most recent meeting last season on the road.

Lorenzo Keeler led four players in double figures on Sunday as he dropped in 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field versus UC Davis. David Hanson responded with 16 points and four rebounds off the bench and Ryan Darling registered a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds in a reverse role as well. Not to be overlooked was Justin Brown with 12 points as he converted 8-of-9 shots at the free-throw line. Keeler, the only player to have started all 14 games for the Mustangs thus far, is shooting 42.3 percent from the floor and 88.0 percent at the free-throw line to come up with 15.4 ppg. Will Donahue had been playing a huge role for this group with his 11.8 ppg and 8.8 rpg, but at this point his eligibility remains in question which means he remains out of action, and that's just one of the reasons why Cal Poly is scoring only 69.6 ppg.

Against UC Riverside, the Titans had little trouble coming up with another league win as Aaron Thompson registered a double-double with his 17 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Gerard Anderson with 15 points. Devon Peltier converted all four of his three-point tries off the bench to arrive at 14 points and Bryce Webster contributed another 13 points and six rebounds as he was a perfect 4-of-4 from the floor and 5-of-5 at the free-throw line. On a team that is putting up 71.9 ppg, the Titans have found the right balance across the board for their scorers as Jacques Streeter and Thompson are averaging 10.9 ppg apiece. However, while the latter is shooting an incredible 24-of-37 behind the three-point line, the former has shot a mere 38.8 percent from the floor overall.

The loss of Donahue has been devastating for the Mustangs and at this point league opponents are going to exploit that gap and take advantage in the paint when possible.
