Bears Offer Legacy

Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco receiver Bryce Treggs camped at Cal, the same school his father Brian broke numerous records at from 88-91, during the summer, but he didn't leave with an offer. Fast forward five months later, and Treggs has finally received that coveted offer...

Scout 100 member for 2012 Bryce Treggs (5-11, 175) received his fourth Pac-10 offer and fifth offer overall from the California Golden Bears.

And he has known all about the Cal football program.

His father, Brian, played for the Bears, and is one of the leading receivers in Cal history before an NFL career.

Three other Pac-10 schools had offered the four-star but on Tuesday, the Cal legacy got an offer he'd been hoping for.

"Cal verbally offered Bryce this afternoon," said the former Bears receiver, Bryce's father. "Bryce was very excited."

The Bears join Arizona State, Stanford, UCLA and San Jose State in offering the productive Treggs.

The elder Treggs was thrilled about the offer too.

"I am honored that Cal has offered my son an opportunity to attain a degree from such a fine institution," said Brian Treggs. "It is a great option for Bryce's academic and athletic future."

As a junior, Treggs had 56 receptions for 1,133 yards and 12 touchdowns and added 37 tackles and four interceptions.
