For McClure, the offer from the Wolverines was recent- they offered when former San Diego State head coach Brady Hoke took the Michigan job.
Hoke was the first coach to offer McClure, the Aztecs being their first offer.
So one of his first orders of business when he got to Ann Arbor was to offer the nation's No. 4 ranked cornerback.
The Wolverines also had an ace in the hole- McClure's childhood favorite player Leon Hall- himself a former Vista corner and then star at Michigan.
"I've known Leon for a long time, since he was in high school, and I looked up to him growing up, and patterned my game after him," said Hall. "I've talked with him about my recruitment, and he told me before I visited Michigan, and said to make my own decision and do what's best for me. It was good to talk with him and he told me about Michigan and how he liked it."
So McClure took the trip to Michigan and said it was a good trip.
"It was pretty good there," said McClure. "It was a little cold for me, being from San Diego, but it wasn't too bad."
McClure said that while Michigan made an impression, they still have some work to do.
"They have some ground made up because they came in so late, but I'm really glad I took the trip, just to be able to compare it to the other schools," said McClure.
McClure was hosted by Denard Robinson, and he enjoyed that matchup.
"I heard a lot about him during the season, and he's a pretty nice guy, real nice and laid back," said McClure.
McClure is being recruited by Dan Ferrigno, who also recruited him at San Diego State, and talked extensively with him and with Hoke.
"Coach Hoke is coming in on Monday for an in-home," said McClure.
"I'm still considering Oregon State, Boise State, Michigan, Cal and UCLA," said McClure. "Everyone will find out this week where I'm going."
