CSDTV: Running Backs
BERKELEY -- Before spring football started, California head coach Sonny Dykes said that he believed one of the untested running backs would emerge as a surprise, with presumptive starter Brendan Bigelow on the shelf due to knee surgery and bruising Daniel Lasco limited because of a shoulder surgery.
Lasco has shown good hands catching the ball out of the backfield while running in no-contact, no-pads work so far this spring, and looks to be running smoothly and with a lot of power, but once the pads go on, it will be up to several unheralded backs to make an impression on Dykes and running backs coach Pierre Ingram.
In these exclusive highlights, we take a look at Lasco (No. 2), Darren Ervin (No. 34), Jonah Hodges (No. 31) and converted defensive back Jeffrey Coprich, who rushed for 1,277 yards and 16 touchdowns as a senior at Stevenson Ranch (Calif.) West Ranch as a senior, along with catching five balls for 41 yards.
