Watson Pulls the Trigger

Tre Watson talks about his commitment to Cal, coming just over 48 hours after visiting the Berkeley campus.

Corona (Calif.) Centennial running back Tre Watson had a doosey of an unofficial visit this weekend to California, but although every bone in his body said to commit, he waited to come back home and talk it out with his parents. Turns out, it didn't take much convincing.

"We had a long talk about it," Watson said. "I love the facility and how the campus was and stuff, the coaches treated me, and I told them all about it, and they loved the sound of it. They've always wanted me to go there, and now all of their dreams are coming true."

While Watson's parents have no connection to the Bears, save for an affinity for the academic profile of Berkeley, Watson himself has always idolized Marshawn Lynch, watching highlights of the former Bears bruiser every Thursday before football practice to get himself pumped up.

"Cal's academics are off the chart, so that's what's always drawn my parents in," Watson said. "Also, they have football tradition. It's a win-win situation."

Stay tuned for more from Watson as we go BEYOND THE COMMITMENT, including his first season as a starter, his training regimen and his knowledge of the Cal running back legacy.
