SAN FRANCISCO -- With California's fall camp just around the corner, the Bear Republic Podcast returns to The Republic at 3213 Scott St., in the Marina District of San Francisco, and today, we break down the depth chart and the storylines heading into Sonny Dykes's first camp as the skipper of the Golden Bears.

Of course, a lot's also happened since we last met, both in the pros and on campus. In the Major Leagues, Cal baseball alum Allen Craig has emerged as a potential MVP candidate with the St. Louis Cardinals, Josh Satin made a big splash after he was called up by the New York Mets.

The Cal women's basketball program got even more stability with the signing of a two-year extension by head coach Lindsay Gottlieb after her big run to the Final Four.
Both the Cal football and Cal baseball programs got commitments over the past month. Dykes and his staff brought defensive back Quentin Tartabull, center Michael Trani and four-star DB Jaleel Wadood into the boat, while David Esquer secured a 2015 pledge from Jeremiah Burks and a 2014 commitment from shortstop Preston GrandPre.

On the hardwood, Mike Montgomery and his staff welcomed in the 2013 signing class, including Roger Moute a Bidias, who finally got his visa issues cleared up.
The Bears also were active on the recruiting trail, extending scholarship offers to Tory Miller, Alex Illikainen and Justin Simon, while scoping out Canadian big man Chris Egi, among others, during the July evaluation period.
