There will be four official visitors on campus this weekend for California, including a familiar face: Garrett Hughes.
The 2013 Semper Fidelis All-American defensive tackle committed to and signed with the Bears last recruiting cycle, but has spent the last nine months shoring up some academic work, and is on track to enroll in January.
He'll be making his official visit this weekend -- he didn't make one last cycle -- along with three junior college targets.
6-foot-2, 295-pound defensive tackle David Davis will be another defensive tackle on his official visit this weekend, and is a bounce back from Washington State, where he spent the 2011 and 2012 seasons. He will have two years to play two after graduating in December.
Keeping with the repetitive name theme, Jonathon Johnson -- a 6-foog-4, 240-pound three-star defensive end/outside linebacker out of Woodland Hills (Calif.) Pierce College -- will also be visiting, despite pledging to Arizona State, yesterday.
He played as a freshman at Snow College, and in 2012 had to take a medical redshirt due to injury. The linebacker said upon his commitment that the Sun Devils first made contact with him only in November. As a sophomore, Johnson posted seven sacks, 10 tackles for loss and 34 total tackles.
Last, but not least, is 5-foot-11, 185-pound, two-star cornerback Dominique Harrison. Harrison is currently committed to Oregon, and also has offers from Arizona State and Idaho. He will have three years to play two, and finished his freshman season at nearby Contra Costa College with 15 tackles, four picks and 16 passes defended.
In other news, Cal offensive line coach Zach Yenser has secured an official visit next weekend from junior college offensive tackle Bobby Keenan, who becomes that much more important given the impending release of Freddie Tagaloa. A source told BearTerritory that Keenan will almost certainly play right away if he signs.
Yenser will also have an in-home visit tonight with commit Kamryn Bennett, and paid a visit to guard commit Michael Trani on Tuesday.
