California added its second junior college defensive tackle commit in as many weeks on Sunday, securing a pledge from 6-foot-3, 305-pound Trevor Kelly out of the College of San Mateo.
"Coach Dykes asked at the end if we had any questions," Kelly told BearTerritory on Sunday. "I just said, 'I want to be a Cal Bear.'"
The three-star defender had offers from the Bears, Colorado, Florida and Illinois, and was joined this weekend in Berkeley by another potential Cal commit out of CSM -- local talent Sam Atoe -- and teammate Deshane Hines.
Kelly said that the strength and conditioning program were paramount to his decision, and the former high school wrestler -- who boasted a 50-6 record in the squared circle -- saw everything he could hope to see as far as that department is concerned, particularly with the progress of another San Mateo Bulldog -- Sione Sina -- who was Kelly's host for the weekend.
Kelly will have two years to play two after redshirting one year and starting another at Sacramento State.
More to come on Kelly soon.
