LAS VEGAS -- Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian wide receiver Jeremy Kelly hasn't done a lot of running lately, thanks to a groin injury suffered on the basketball court, but for him, well, it's still football season.
"To me, football never ended," Kelly said this weekend at the Pylon Elite 7on7 event in Las Vegas.
Kelly has four offers so far, but one sticks out among the rest as a school he will definitely visit, officially.
"I'm not sure when, but I do know that I'm going to take an official visit to Cal," Kelly said. "I just like their program, and how their receivers, they get a lot of shine over there. They get a lot of catches. You look at Keenan Allen, who was at Cal, and he went to the San Diego Chargers, and he had a breakout year. I thought he should have gotten Rookie of the Year, this year. You look at Bryce Treggs, who had a really good year, and Erik Brown, who just went there, I feel like they're going to do some really good things."
Kelly is also quite enamored with wide receivers coach Rob Likens.
"Coach Likens, I see him as a good, fun, energetic coach," Kelly said. "I feel like he's one of the best recruiters out here in the Pac-12. He's one of the guys that's persistent on me, to this day. Some schools offer, and I haven't had contact with them, since. He makes sure that he stays in touch with me and we keep up a good relationship. I like coach Likens."
Arizona State, Colorado and San Diego State have also extended offers, with Boise State, Oregon, UCLA, Washington and Washington State showing interest, and while the Bears will certainly get an official visit – as well as an April 14 Junior Day trip and perhaps another spring ball stop – Kelly wants to explore all of his options.
"I like pretty much all my offers," Kelly said. "The colleges that I have talked to, I'd like to see what they have to offer. I don't know if they're going to get an official visit, but I do plan on visiting every campus, eventually."
But, he said, "I feel like I'll fit right in at the Cal program."
