“We got here and we had the meal, and it was really great,” said Johnny.
“We checked out the campus and talked with the coaches,” said Jacob.
Both brothers had attended the Sacramento State home opener for Cal, and joined a huge list of visitors.
After older brother Johnny committed to Cal back in June, the pressure has been on Jacob to join, but Johnny has made sure that his younger brother has a chance to blaze his own path.
That said, they have spoken with Jordan Rigsbee -- who played with his older brother Tyler – and both Cochran brothers -- Aaron Cochran and Matt Cochran -- who have played next to one another on the offensive line this season. “We’ve talked to them a good amount, and it would be a great opportunity,” Johnny said. “They’re definitely advocates for it, and I would love the experience, but Jake’s his own man, and he has a long time until he makes a decision.”
As for Jacob, there’s plenty for him to like about Cal.
“I absolutely love the location, how close it is to home, how academic it is – that’s a very big thing for me – and the weather is amazing here, the tradition, too,” said Jacob. “There are a lot of amazing things, here.”
