RECRUIT REACTION: Parker Watches Cal Practice

Jordan Parker took in his first spring football practice at Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, as the Bears prepare for their spring game on Saturday at 11 a.m.

California had several recruiting visitors at Memorial Stadium on Wednesday as the Bears wrapped up spring practice, but the biggest name was four-star cornerback Jordan Parker, out of Pittsburg (Calif.).

“I just came out here because I haven’t been to Cal in a minute, and I had to come and show respect,” said Parker. “I miss it.”

Parker spoke at length with defensive backs coach Greg Burns and head coach Sonny Dykes, and paid close attention to the same coaching techniques he benefited from when he made an appearance at Cal’s summer camp 10 months ago.

“It was a good, light practice, a couple days before the spring game, and there was a lot of competition, out here,” Parker said.

Parker said that he’s not close to deciding where he’ll play college ball – “It’s still up in the air,” he said. If he had to decide today, he couldn’t, he said. “I really don’t know.”

Parker came to practice after school, as Pittsburg got out early on Wednesday.

The big topic of conversation between Parker and Burns was whether or not he could see himself here, and what he thought of the drills and the way Burns works with his charges. Parker had not yet been out for spring practice.

“He gave them some good work, some really good work today,” Parker said. “I really like his style, the way he coaches. It all comes together. I see what he does, and it all comes together.” Top Stories
