WATCH: Lucas Erceg's Diving Catch

BERKELEY -- Lucas Erceg sacrifices his face to save a foul pop in a 4-1 win over Fresno State on Tuesday night at Evans Diamond.

BERKELEY -- En route to California's fourth win in a row -- a 4-1 victory over visiting Fresno State -- the Golden Bears' leading hitter and starting third baseman Lucas Erceg made a sprawling, diving grab on a foul pop by the Bulldogs' Mike Batesole to start the top of the sixth inning. That grab helped starter Jeff Bain on his way to 8.2 shutout innings against the Bulldogs, thanks in large part to the defense behind him.

Erceg showed no concussion-like symptoms after the grab, as teammates Preston GrandPre and Brian Celsi -- who, himself, made a diving grab at the left field line for the first out in the top of the ninth -- pulled the tarp roll away from Erceg to give him room to be attended to by the trainer and head coach David Esquer.
