California added the 19th member of its recruiting class on Saturday, with the commitment of Spring (Tex.) Klein Collins outside linebacker Cameron Goode.
Goode, at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, has good length, can run sideline-to-sideline and shows quick change-of-direction, but needs to add weight. He chose the Bears over offers from Kansas, Iowa State, Boston College, Fresno State and Louisiana-Lafayette.
“I just felt like Cal was a great academic opportunity, and a great football opportunity,” Goode told BearTerritory on Saturday afternoon.
Goode was recruited by special teams coach – and the Bears’ primary recruiter in the state of Texas -- Mark Tommerdahl.
Goode becomes Cal’s eighth defensive commitment in the 2016 class, and the second outside linebacker, along with Markus Wright.
Cal has a veteran group of linebackers returning for 2015, with redshirt junior Michael Barton, redshirt senior Jalen Jefferson, redshirt junior Hardy Nickerson, Jr., redshirt senior Nathan Broussard, junior Jake Kearney, redshirt sophomore Ray Davison and true sophomore Devante Downs.
