BERKELEY – As had been rumored, Cal has added a game to the 2015-16 men's basketball schedule, hosting local stalwart Saint Mary’s at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12 in Haas Pavilion. The contest will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
Cal leads the all-time series, 61-16, but has not met the Gaels since Nov. 12, 2004, when Saint Mary's pulled off a 61-52 win over Ben Braun's squad in Berkeley.
“We are looking forward to playing St. Mary’s this season,” Cal head coach Cuonzo Martin said. “This should be a great game. Our two Bay Area schools have a strong basketball tradition. We have not played one another in more than a decade and I know our fans will appreciate the matchup. We are fortunate that a game between our two schools worked out on the schedule this year. Hopefully, we will be able to compete against one another more often in the future.”
The addition of Saint Mary’s completes Cal’s 2015-16 schedule. The Bears tip off the regular season against Rice on Friday, Nov. 13 and begin their Pac-12 slate at home vs. Colorado on Friday, Jan. 1. Non-conference road games include the Las Vegas Invitational in late November and a trip to Virginia Dec. 22. Visit CalBears.com for a complete look at Cal’s schedule of games.
