T's Cal Football Preview – 2003 - Disclaimer

<p class="txt">This document is by no means an official publication of the Cal Athletic Department, nor that of any organization affiliated with the NCAA.

The views and opinions expressed in this document are not necessarily those of anyone other than myself. Both the Cal Athletic Department and the Pac-10 produce annual media guides, though I did not use these as source material for this preview.

IMPORTANT: If you are someone who is easily offended, and in particular if you are a player or a person that is close to a player, please keep in mind as you read this that I am a very loyal Cal fan and truly enjoy college football. Nothing would please me more than to see every Cal player succeed in all facets of life. Also keep in mind that I am not a sports writer and authoring this preview is not how I earn my paycheck, but rather something I do to have some fun with my friends. If, after keeping all this in mind, you are still mad about anything you read here, just crack open a cold one and chill out. You'll feel better that way in the long run than if you decide to send me a nasty email.

Finally, a note on terminology: the term "blueshirt" is used frequently throughout this guide. It refers to the practice of allowing either incoming Freshmen or injured returning lettermen to remain with the team for a season without playing in games and without losing a year of eligibility to play NCAA Division I football. Most non-Cal fans use a slightly different term for this practice, involving a different, highly inappropriate shirt color.
