Ali Looking At Cal

The Bears are certainly off to a tough start this year, but that hasn't seemed to hurt their chances with Vacaville-Will C. Wood standout running back MuAmmar Ali.

Ali (5-8, 175) carries a 3.0 GPA and has been a standout at each of the past two NorCal Nike Camps, clocking a 4.40 and 4.49 in the 40-yard dash, bench-pressing 17 reps, posting a 37.5-inch vertical jump and a quick 4.04 shuttle time.

"Right now I don't really have a favorite, I'm keeping all my options open," said Ali. "I'm really looking for a place with a great business school and a community that I'll feel comfortable in."

Ali has been spectacular at tailback in Will C. Wood High School's first two games, after spending most of his junior year at corner, rushing 11 times for 112 yards and two scores in the first and 10 times for 211 yards with two more touchdowns in the second.

"I've gotten calls this month from Cal, USC, UCLA, Washington, Texas, San Diego State, and everyone in the Pac-10 has called," says Ali. "Right now I have offers from Cal, Washington State and Sacramento State."

Also a dangerous kick and punt returner, Ali says he's interested in taking trips to Cal, Washington, Texas, Oregon State and possibly Florida State, but will wait until after the season to setup anything official.

About Cal, Ali said, "Cal's business school (Haas Business School) has a great reputation and that's definitely something that I like.

"Cal isn't doing to well right now, but I really like their school, their coaches are real polite and I get along real well with Coach Holmoe, Coach Gould and Coach Borges. Cal seems like a place I'd like to go if I wasn't playing football." Top Stories
