VIDEO: Joey Matulovich fans seven Cougars in Cal baseball win over Washington State

BERKELEY -- Cal righty Joey Matulovich fans seven, as the Bears get another clutch hit from Jeffrey Mitchell in a 7-2 win over Washington State on Saturday.

BERKELEY -- For the second night in a row, it was a squeaker off the bat of California right fielder Jeffrey Mitchell that spelled the end for Washington State, as the Bears scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh to clinch a series win over the Cougars.

Cal got clutch defense from first baseman Andrew Vaughn, a two-run double from Tanner Dodson, an RBI double from freshman left fielder Max Flower and two runs on a groundout and a sacrifice fly by center fielder Jonah Davis. Reliever Zayne Patino came on to get the Bears out of a jam in the seventh, and closer Erik Martinez pitched a perfect ninth for the win.
