Huskies Comeback to Bite Bears Again

Cody Pickett completed 18 of 33 passes for 291 yards and two touchdowns as No. 13 Washington held off California 31-28 on Saturday.

Washington (3-0, 1-0) has won 11 straight games and eight consecutive Pacific-10 Conference games. California (0-4, (0-2) has lost 19 straight games to Washington, dating to Nov. 6, 1976, in Seattle.

Cal quarterback Kyle Boller completed 21-of-36 passes for 265 yards and a career-high four touchdowns to four different receivers. Washington was led Paul Arnold's two touchdown catches and Rich Alexis' two scoring runs.

The win marks the third straight year that Washington has come back in the fourth quarter to beat the Bears. UW topped Cal 31-27 in 1999 and 36-24 last year after trailing by double figures in the 4th quarter in both games.
