Conor Famulener 14 24 30 -6
A.J. Diggs 22 34 41 -7
Rodrique Benson 6 8 16 -8

Comment:  The plus/minus number were the starters were significantly higher than the plus/minus for the reserves.  Cal's starting unit of Ubaka, Midgley, Tamir, Kately and Powe was especially effective, going +13 in 9:27. Midgley only played four minutes in the first half because of foul trouble. He was a +8 in the second half, even though the team was -4. Although Coach Braun did use offense-for-defense substitutions and the end of each half, but the net results weren't enough to make a significant difference. The Bears had an excellent defensive run from 8:42 of the first half to 15:32 of the second half - during that 13:10, Cal outscored the Sun Devils 22-6. (The plus/minus for Cal-Arizona is below the Cal-ASU numbers.)

Description: This stat measures the significance of a player's contribution to the team's effort. If a team wins by 10 points, and a player plays in half of the team's minutes, his expected contribution would be a +5. For example, when Cal defeated Grambling by 19 points. Brian Wethers played 28 minutes or 70% of the game. If we multiply 70% x +19, Wethers' expected contribution would be a +13.30. But for the game he was a +26, so his net for the game for a +12.70. In a perfect team situation, if everyone contributed equally, the difference column would consist of a row of zeros.

Comment: While Cal tried to use the first line/second line like it did against Washington - first half foul trouble on Midgley, Diggs, and Benson scuttled those plans. The starters played together for 9:27 and went +13 (25/12). The all-sub unit of Diggs, Smith, McGuire, Famulener, and Benson was oncourt together for 1:52, and went -2 (4/6).
