Cal Falls to 0-7 With Loss at Oregon State

James Newson had eight catches for 166 yards and a touchdown as Oregon State extended California's miserable season with a 19-10 victory Saturday.

Jonathan Smith threw for 234 yards and Ken Simonton added 110 yards rushing on 21 carries for the Beavers, who at 3-4 overall (2-3 Pac-10) still harbor realistic bowl chances.

Terrell Williams, playing in place of injured tailback Joe Igber, who left the game and will miss the rest of the season with a broken clavicle, gained 104 yards for Cal (0-7, 0-5). Cal totaled over 200 yards on the ground but yet the Golden Bears have just four games left to avoid their first winless season since 1897.
