That Versatility Card Rears its Head

In a smothering defensive display the Cal men's basketball team chalked up its second exhibition win by overcoming a rugged start and evetually overwhelming an undermanned EA Sports team with tenacious defense and a "spread the wealth" offensive display. And while the 97-67 final tally doesn't seem to indicate many struggles, there were a few times where the Cal juggernaut seemed to stagnate and even slow down. However those lapses were brief and this year's version seems poised to display itself as a multi-faceted club wheras in years past the men's team has been perhaps unfairly labeled by its critics as one dimensionsal.

Next up for the Bears are the Princeton Tigers which should make for an interesting match-up due to the contrasting styles. The Bears should hold the advantage in this season opening match-up due to superior talent and backcourt experience. Following the match-up with Princeton the Bears will (hopefully) face the winner of the Eastern Washington-#10 St. Joseph's matchup in what would the championship game of the BCA Classic. Top Stories
