Bulls Bury Bears: Huge Returns for South Florida

Sometimes you come out and give it your all and you just don't have it, the magic, the spark, the juice. Such was the case for the California Golden Bears against South Florida in what on paper looked like a tough gritty rematch of last year's 79-69 victory at home for the Golden Bears.

Cold shooting and poor rebounding were the culprits in Cal's first loss on the season, a 79-59 beating administered by the South Florida Bulls. 18 turnovers didn't help matters either but it was apparent within the game's first eight minutes that the Bears were going to struggle in the contest.

South Florida Dominated the glass 48-32 led by B.B. Waldon's 15 boards and Altron Jackson's 10 boards. Add 41 points between the two and it is easy to see why South Florida dominated the interior. to further complicate matters, Cal continued its perimeter woes shooting only 7-26 from the three point line which facilitated South Florida's transition offense and led to many easy baskets.

Next up for the Bears are the Saint Louis Billikens at home. The Bears should have revenge on their mind not only for their poor performance against South Florida but to avenge a 22-point loss to the Billikens at the Savvis Center last year.

This will be another key match up for the Bears. Cal needs to rebound and regroup after their lackluster performance and iron out the offensive inconsistencies which have plagued them this year.
