Fourth Offer For '09 QB

After putting on a strong showing at the Stanford Nike Camp on Saturday, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei quarterback Matt Barkley, one of the top prospects in the class of 2009, received his fourth offer.

"Matt enjoyed the camp (Saturday)," said his father Les. "After the camp (Cal) Coach (Jeff) Tedford offered Matt. Coach Tedford is one of the best QB coaches in all of football." Barkley figures to add several more offers over the course of the next 21 months before he signs in February of 2009, and the offer from the Golden Bears joins offers from Colorado, Florida State and Stanford. During his 2006 sophomore season, Barkley was named first-team all-state sophomore and was a finalist for state sophomore of the year. He was Mater Dei's Offensive MVP and threw for 1,349 yards and 11 touchdowns. Also started as a freshman and threw for 1,685 yards on 126-of-220 passing and 10 touchdown passes.
