Central Cali Ath Has Cal Tie

Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West RB/S Nathan Fellner had a great camp at the B2G Elite Program a few weeks back, and had a good showing Cal's one-day camp in June. We caught up with him at B2G to talk about his recruitment. He has offers from Stanford, Washington, and Washington State, and says he would love to receive one from Cal, where his cousin signed in February.

Nathan Fellner (6-0, 200) is a grandson of Cal Head Coach Jeff Tedford's mentor, Jim Sweeney. Sweeney's other grandson, Beau, signed with Cal in February. Fellner is a rising prospect, and the No. 52 rated S in the nation by Scout.com.

Fellner filled in last season playing just two full games on defense, while rushing for just over 400 yards on offense. His best offensive game was his 100-yard plus effort versus Corona (Calif.) Centennial. He also caught the game-winning 45-yard touchdown pass against Fresno (Calif.) Edison in the Central Section playoff semifinals.

Fellner has offers as both an offensive and defensive player. Stanford offered him as a RB, while Washington, Washington State, and San Diego State offered him as a S. He has spent much of the off-season working with DB guru Tony Perry, the former Fresno Edison DB coach. Fellner has improved his footwork and hips from a year ago. He showed his improvement at both Cal's one-day camp and the B2G Elite Program in June. Moreover, his legit 4.5 speed is often overlooked.

He has stated Stanford is his top school, but he remains open on his recruitment. Washington State is his latest offer, but Fellner says he would love offers from California and Oregon. He says his cousin is not recruiting him per se, but it would be great to play with him in college if it came to fruition. Watch his interview and highlights from B2G…
