Central Cali WR Talks Recruiting

Fresno (Calif.) Edison WR Rashaun Shaffer has to share the spotlight with four-star Scout.com prospect WR Rolando Jefferson. As a junior, Shaffer made his share of big receptions and expects a bigger role this season. Utah offered him as a sophomore, and he says Cal recruited him the hardest last season. We caught up with him recently at a summer scrimmage…

Rashaun Shaffer (6-4, 180) caught less than 10 receptions last season; however, half went for touchdowns. His role is expected to increase this season, and if his last summer scrimmage was any indication, Shaffer should solid senior year.

He was offered by Utah as a sophomore. While the Utes continue to show interest, Shaffer says Cal recruited him the hardest as a junior. During the spring and summer, he says Cal continued to send him stuff along with Michigan, San Diego State, and Virginia among others. Despite some invites to take a few unofficial visits, Shaffer has not visited any schools.

He competed at the UnderArmour/Scout.com L.A. Combine in May and had a good showing at the B2G Elite Program last month in Thousand Oaks. But his best competition comes in practice. He faces the nation's top CB Cliff Harris and third-ranked safety T.J. McDonald daily.

In a recent scrimmage, Shaffer started along side Harris at receiver with Rolando Jefferson sitting out with an injury. Watch his highlights and interview from the scrimmage…
