Bolden Focused on Three

Merced (Calif.) Athlete Bernard Bolden can play multiple positions. He lined up at receiver, running back, free safety, cornerback, and kick returner Friday night in the Bears shocking 43-14 loss at Fresno (Calif.) Edison. Bolden is focused on three from the Pac-10 after recently having his Cal offer pulled…

Bernard Bolden (5-9, 175) had a tough night on Friday against Fresno Edison. The Bears could not move the ball on offense, and he finished with just three receptions for 34 yards. Defensively, he could do little to help slowdown Edison receiver Rolando Jefferson and he rest of the Tiger offense.

Bolden was expecting to make an impact on the special teams but he had few chances with Edison routinely drilling kickoffs into the end zone.

"I hoped to make something happen on special teams," said Bolden. "It was my first week working on [returning kicks]."

He says he has offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Nebraska, Oregon, and San Diego State among others. The one big early offer missing is the California Golden Bears.

"I think it's my grades, but Coach [Kevin] Daft said they were going in a different direction," Bolden said of the reasoning behind Cal pulling his offer.

The Bears were recruiting him as corner as most schools are. "ASU says they want me at slot receiver," said Bolden.

He says the Sun Devils along with Oregon and Washington State are now his leaders. Bolden did not disclose his GPA, but he says he takes the SAT next month.

Here are few photos from Friday's game…
