On August 14, he verbally committed to UW. Earlier this week, he de-committed from the Huskies and subsequently scheduled his first official visit to Berkeley for this weekend.

Coleman told Cal Sports Digest there were numerous reasons why he reopened his recruitment.

"I committed too early," said Coleman. "I want to make the right decision. I want to go to a winning team."

As for the Huskies?

"They are still in contention," said Coleman.

One reason for initially choosing Washington was the opportunity to play in front of friends and family. He tells us he has no problem playing far from home.

"I'm very excited," Coleman said of his scheduled official visit to Cal this weekend.

Garfield has a game versus nationally ranked Skyline on Friday night, therefore Coleman will not arrive in Berkeley until early Saturday morning.

He says his trip to Cal is the only official visit he has scheduled. However, he says he has been in contact with coaches about setting up more. Schools he has interest in besides the Golden Bears are as follows: Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Oregon, Texas A&M, and UCLA. He says all have offered.

This time around, Coleman states he wants to take all his official visits and make his decision afterward. Nonetheless, he has not ruled committing early once again if he finds the right school.

"If I really like it, I'll commit," Coleman said.

Questions surrounding his academics have surfaces recently after changing his mind about Washington. Coleman tells us he is currently getting straight A's, but it is very early in the semester. He reports an overall GPA of 2.5. He plans to retake his SAT in early December. He did not disclose his initial SAT score.
