Visalia (Calif.) Mt. Whitney RB Ben Bowen is now sitting on three offers. Portland State offered him first in the spring, and two more schools have thrown their hats into the ring this fall. The two-way standout is still hearing from the Pac-10, but he will take his first official visit November 8 to an FCS school…
(5-10, 200) is attracting the attention of numerous FCS (formerly IAA) schools. He still has his sights set on the FBS (formerly IA), but he has scheduled his first official visit to Big Sky member Portland State on November 8.
"Ben is heading up to Portland next weekend," said his father, Dwayne Bowen.
One school picking up their recruitment of Bowen is Cornell. "The coaches send him hand-written letters every week," said Bowen.
Montana is the latest school to offer him. UCLA and Oregon State are still showing interest as well.
"Ben visited (unofficially) UCLA last month," said Bowen.
All three schools are recruiting Bowen as a running back. He also can play safety or linebacker at the next level. Bowen ran the fastest forty (4.43) at the UnderArmour/Scout.com L.A. Combine in May. He benched 225 lbs 23 times at the COS Skills Combine in August. His max bench is 440 lbs.
Academically, he has already fulfilled NCAA entrance requirements.
