Price Sold on Cal

Blinn College (TX) LB Jarred Price was high on Cal in the spring to the point it was reported that he verbally committed. A few months back, he made it clear he had not, but it is moot, as Price re-committed to the Bears this past weekend. He told CSD after his official trip Cal that he wanted to visit Kansas State and Kentucky before making his decision, and he may still visit one next weekend…

Jarred Price (5-10, 220) says his decision to become a California Golden Bear is final. However, he says he received a call from a coach that may alter his plans somewhat.

"[Defensive Line] Coach [Mo] Latimore called me today (Sunday)," said Price. "He said his job was safe [at Kansas State] and he wants me to come out for a visit after our (Blinn College) bowl game."

"My decision is final but I need to call Coach [Jeff] Tedford and let him know about that trip. I'm just taking the visit to enjoy my college experience."

Price said he had spoken to Coach Tedford earlier on Sunday just before he was entering a team meeting.

"I know I made the right decision," Price said of re-commitment to Cal and Coach Tedford. "It is the right fit. I took my [official] visit (Nov. 22-23) and it was good."

"I like the weather. I loved it up there. I love California uh…I love everything about San Francisco and Berkeley."

The Bears are recruiting the undersized linebacker to play on the outside. Despite his lack of height, Price is bull off the edge and has good speed.

"I line up at DE a couple of plays, but [Cal] is recruiting me pretty much as an outside linebacker, rush the passer," said Price.

Price will graduate in the spring and plans to report during the summer with two years to play two. He redshirted in 2006 to bulk up. Cal lands a great addition to the 2009 class in Price. He can come in immediately and help fill the void left by graduating OLB Zack Follett.
