Meadows Chooses Cal

It did not take long for San Jose (Calif.) City College linebacker Jerome Meadows to decide on Cal. He told Cal Sports Digest on Sunday – after returning from his official visit to Berkeley – Cal was his top choice, but he was not quite ready to pull the trigger. Nevertheless, on Monday, he was…

Jerome Meadows (6-3, 235) is the exactly the combination of size and speed the California Golden Bear coaches are looking for to fill in at outside linebacker in place of graduating Zack Follett. On Monday, Meadows called Cal to tell them he was going to attend to Berkeley and help the void.

"I committed to Cal. I called [Linebacker] Coach [Kenwick] Thompson about 45 minutes ago," Meadows said this afternoon. "He was excited. He said, ‘It was a good decision.'"

Meadows gives Cal two verbal commits from the junior college ranks in as many days. Cerritos (Calif.) College defensive end committed to the Bears on Sunday during his trip. Meadows says he knew Cal was the right choice for him as well during his trip.

"I just needed some time to think it over," said Meadows but delaying his commitment by one day.

Kansas threw their hat into the ring and offered Meadows on Monday. "I had to tell them thanks but no thanks," said Meadows.
