He has tripped to ASU and CSU. He has scheduled a trip to Kansas State for the weekend of January 16. He took his official visit to Cal this weekend and Cal Sports Digest caught up with him on Sunday afternoon.
"It was good, no, it was great," Ragland said of his trip. "I really didn't have one [host] for my visit. The dorms and the buildings were cool. I've been up there once before, it wasn't too much of a shocker. [Tedford] is a cool guy. He reminds me of [Mullen head coach] Dave Logan.
Ragland is the Bears top prospect for the coveted left position. "I'm just the guy [at left tackle]," said Ragland.
"It feels good actually [for a top college program to say]…I'm the No. 1 guy at left tackle."
Ragland has the scheduled strip to KSU remaining and may take a fifth trip. However, he may make his decision before taking any of those trips.
"They got a certain program, an academic program that I want to check out that I haven't seen before," Ragland said about his interest in Kansas State.
Ragland would like to major in sports medicine but is unsure if he will stick with it while college. His favorite schools remain ASU, CSU, and Cal. But after this weekend, the Bears have moved up his list.
"I would say it put them to the top," Ragland said of his trip to Berkeley. "I will make [my decision] after Christmas break."
He says he was impressed with the environment around the program. The lack of pressure to make a decision stood out to him.
"If [I committed] it was cool, if not that was cool too," Ragland said of his discussions with the Golden Bear coaching staff.
Ragland reports a 3.0 GPA. He is currently awaiting his test score from the ACT. He has no immediate plan to take the SAT.
